DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

I have been leading diversity trainings with a variety of institutions since the early 2000s.  If you’re interested in developing a workshop, please reach out.

GOALS

  • Build a culture of trust and reconciliation

  • Create an environment where people feel heard, seen, and respected

  • Develop a community of unique individuals able to honestly communicate their thoughts

  • Create a workplace that is equitable and just in each and every one of its endeavors

FOCUS

  • Race, diversity, inclusion, and community

  • Systematic inequality, discrimination, marginalization, and the language/vocabulary/lexicon that can help us become proactive in self-expression and growth

  • How we attempt to be better allies

  • How we address unconscious or implicit bias

  • The history of systematic and institutionalized racism in America

  • The history of policing and oppressive state sponsored violence towards people of African descent in America

  • White privilege, white pathology, white supremacy, and how they play out in everyday life

  • Protests, riots, and government response

MY BACKGROUND

I worked with Equal Employment Opportunity and ADA at Howard University to help implement a sexual harassment policy that was highly effective in reducing claims as well as changing the culture of the university amongst faculty, staff and students.  At various points in the past fifteen years I've worked with small businesses, start ups, venues, and educational centers to engage diversity and inclusion initiatives, conflict resolution, and professional development. In the past year, I've worked with several schools in the NYC Department of Education to train and engage community members around issues of equity and was sent to Detroit to present material on equity, equality and diversity initiatives. I currently work with two tech firms helping to formulate and implement diversity and inclusion programs and policies. Outside of my work with businesses, start-ups and educational institutions I am the co-founder of Black Land Ownership — an organization committed to combating the historical, systematic and institutionalized marginalization experienced by people of African descent.
